Western Province

Western Province is the most socio-economically developed part in Sri Lanka. It contributes more than fifty percent to the Gross Domestic Product. The province could also be considered as the Heartland of the tourism industry of the island. Colombo, the capital city is a busy and vibrant place with a mixture of modern life and colonial buildings and ruins.

Southern Province

The Southern Province, with its pristine beaches, is a popular destination by tourists, both local and foreign. The Province consists of Galle, Matara and Hambantota districts. Important landmarks include the wildlife sanctuaries of Yala National Park, the holy city of Kataragama and the ancient cities of Tissamaharama, Kirinda and Galle. Galle, a Unesco World Heritage Site, is a historic city that is a delight to explore on foot, with an endlessly exotic old trading port blessed with imposing Dutch-colonial buildings, ancient mosques and churches, grand mansions and museums.

Sabaragamuwa Province

In addition to the breathtaking scenery, Sabaragamuwa is also known for its cultural activities, with fascinating pre-historic and historic sites, lively festivals and, more interestingly, a wide range of precious and semi-precious gems that has attracted the world.

Uva Province

The historical inheritance of the Uva Province is a long and rich in the upturn of socio-political footprints. Uva Province is enriched in cultural, artistic, historical, political and social capacities rather than other provinces in Sri Lanka. There are two administrative districts called as Badulla and Monaragala in Uva Province. However, there are so many historical evidence to prove that the ancient geographical area is very larger than two such districts.

Central Province

The Central Province is primarily in the central mountainous terrain of Sri Lanka. It is now home to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. The province imposes colonial-era and Kandyan architecture is renowned for the great Kandy Esala Perahera Festival. The province is famous for its production of Ceylon tea and attracts many tourists from around the globe

Eastern Province

The Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. It is surrounded by lagoons with palm-filtered sunlight glancing off the water. The beaches are used for surfing, scuba diving, fishing and whale watching. Trincomalee, a natural deep-water harbour, has attracted seafarers like Marco Polo, Ptolemy and sea traders from China and East Asia since ancient times. Batticaloa is home to the largest lagoon of the island and in the district are many gorgeous beaches that attract a lot of local and foreign tourists.

Northern Province

With rainbow-colored Hindu temples, a spectacular coastline fringed with Palmyrah and Coconut Palms, sun-kissed fields and wild Peacocks, the North is a charming destination of Sri Lanka.

North Central Province

This is the largest province of Sri Lanka. Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa, is known for its centuries-old irrigated agriculture, ancient Sinhalese kingdoms and places of Buddhist worship such as Sri Maha Bodhi, Ruwanweliseya. The provincial capital, Anuradhapura is one of the most sacred cities in Sri Lanka as many places of Buddhist worship are located in this ancient city. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and one of the eight World Heritage Sites of Sri Lanka.

North Western Province

The North Western Province, is a secret treasure trove long left untouched by mass tourism. Thinly populated by a fascinating mixture of cultures and religions, this northwestern province is beautiful and wild, with looming rocks rising sharply from the earth and dreamy wewas (reservoirs) with their circling storks and eagles, flashing kingfishers and beautiful water lilies.
